Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency you need to manually vacuum. Choose a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs and has a large bin that needs to be cleaned out every now and then.

There are also models that clean and charge themselves which can be beneficial for those with children or pets. The top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those looking for a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot when it is full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on hard floors and carpets, and they're excellent at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It may get stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including putting away any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot vac with voice or through the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying which eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.

We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After connecting to these services, we were able give the i7+ voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpets to trap large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task at hand. It quickly switches from handheld to best automatic floor cleaner vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model also has docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours, and gives users an easy access to two attachments as well as the clip for a wand. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are not true, as CR's testing shows. This is an average and not a remarkable time to run an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's enough time to vacuum the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second run generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of the most well-known robot vacuums The 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a robotic vacuum cleaner commercial. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area several times for an extensive clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it lacks the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently is power-depleted before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistance. It also feels better-built and has a stronger motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a wider array of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's not surprising that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and much more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app. You can also set up a live streaming from the robot cleaner commercial's cleaning station. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin are washable to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic floor Vacuum clean station which helps keep the robot's bin clear and improves suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

In contrast to other robotic vacuum cleaner commercial vacuums that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They come with a wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds twice as much debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area free of debris for the longest period of time. They also come with two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which detects whether it's picking up surface litter or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also has an app that allows users to see the virtual map, manage functions, and set schedules. You can also track the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging at the press of a single button. The app allows you to personalize the LED lights on top of the vacuum with different colors, so that you can easily identify which areas it's focused on or where it's gotten stuck.

The app also makes it easy to manually steer the robot if needed. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that can trip up some of the other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL, however continued to travel across the border without registering the cliff. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
