Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To Upgrade Items (Pattern-wiki.win), players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Usually, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will have to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be and also the element or material required to make that happen.

There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type limitation. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will add their names to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding an Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph with a different one the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, except for the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before being "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a couple of essential items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

Each upgrade will require the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests to complete, depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item does not get to its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However it has a lower chance of success.

Engineers may utilize a level to measure the height of the building to a known location, such as a benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an Best item upgrade. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can dramatically increase the strength of an item or damage, as well as other characteristics. To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button in the character screen. It will show the item's features, as well as the required items to upgrade it.
