Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to stronger bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be used to upgrade trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or impact when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot by enemies, or received from chests and missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be put in any type of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same benefits as jewels, but they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item upgrader kit they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces glyphs with another glyph the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions that can be swapped freely.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in some fundamental ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they're "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of key items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several items.

This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is known as Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade Item succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it is able to get the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's class. For instance, a rare or unique weapon with a normal base will have only two affixes for it, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade will require the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests based on the current level of the item upgrades and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of material however it will result in lower chances of success.

Engineers may use a level in order to compare the height of the building to a known point, like a benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod, then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with the highest level of accuracy and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial part of the game, and it can increase the damage, strength or other characteristics. You can do this via the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be performed in rare cases.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item upgrader mod or another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level that has been filled.

In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more often than others. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be a good or a negative thing dependent on your needs and requirements from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can come with a bonus that increases the item's power by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are rolled over the usual affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also comes with several sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on the same unit. This is a good method of giving the character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling can give players a faster route to a more powerful character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be arranged in various ways. They can be of various sizes, have no elements at all, or contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be classified in several ways, including by size and shape.

There are a range of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that provide high defense values and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not boost the stats of the item when compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.

Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own special functions which can be beneficial in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to the level of the tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

To see if an item level upgrade is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button in the screen for their character. The item will be displayed with its characteristics, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general the jewelry and weapons have greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with spell/weapon damage glyphs, upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense of armor that has a newer appearance.
