Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum reviews vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
